Driftwood in Bishop Arts

642 W. Davis St.
Dallas, TX 75208

Michael Martensen assumed management of the Bishop Arts seafood restaurant in early 2014, installing the executive chef-pastry chef team of Kyle McClelland and Annika Loureiro. McClelland sources excellent oysters, and there’s an impressive list of absinthes, which pair smartly with them. The chef’s pricey seafood dishes don’t dazzle the way those of his predecessor (Omar Flores) did, but they can be quite nice; McClelland’s menu changes frequently. He also makes a mean pork chop, and there’s often a special, long-dry-aged steak on offer. Loureiro’s small selection of desserts is pretty wonderful. Acoustics in the dining room are atrocious, and the service can be wiggy. Full bar. Dinner only. Closed Sunday and Monday. Leslie Brenner/Guide
