A new eatery and bar called The Grove at Harwood officially opens Friday, May 15 and it offers more than just food and drink. Well, that is, if the weather's nice.

The Grove at Harwood

The spot, which is located on a sliver of land known as the Harwood District between Dallas' Uptown and Downtown, specializes in outdoor games. The property includes two sand volleyball courts and bocce ball pit, as well as equipment for badminton and football, among other yard games.

Hungry patrons will be able to order snacks, such as paninis and hummus, from a walk-up kitchen/kiosk built in a refurbished 1940s home, and wash them down with a local craft beer. (See the menu here.) Keep in mind, all seating is outside, so you may want to choose a day when the weather is nice.

The Grove at Harwood is one of several restaurants opening this year as part of a long-term project by developer Harwood International to sprout 18 walkable city blocks' worth of destination locations. The company also recently opened a coffee shop called Magnolias Sous Le Pont. Both businesses join popular restaurants Saint Ann Restaurant and Bar and Mercat Bistro in the Harwood District.

The Grove at Harwood is open Wednesday and Thursday 4 p.m. to midnight, Friday 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday 10 a.m. to midnight and Sunday 11 a.m. to midnight. The bar is closed Monday and Tuesday.
