Two North Texans are ready to run around the world as 'Amazing Race' premieres tonight

Plano resident Francesca Piccoli and Fort Worth native Ashton Theiss will run around on The Amazing Race, which premieres Thursday, March 30, at 9 p.m.

The two North Texas residents will join 21 other "Racers." And this year, the competitors won't have the bonus of friendship to fall back on; all contestants will meet at the starting line and pick a partner based on first impression alone.

The show promises nine countries, 17 cities and 36,000 miles this season. It's the show's "29th race around the world."

Contestants will start in Los Angeles. Panama City is the first destination.

Theiss, 25, is a "residential realtor" when she's not gallivanting the globe trying to win prize money. Piccoli, a California native, is a veteran "army drill sergeant"

The winning team will get $1 million. Pil Keoghan hosts the six-time Emmy Award-winning reality TV series.
