Burleson High alum Andrea Thomas earns Blake Shelton's vote on 'The Voice'

Thomas performed 'Baby, Now That I’ve Found You' and prompted Blake Shelton to turn his chair one minute into her song.

Her blind audition on NBC's The Voice wasn't shown in full Monday night, but Burleson High School alum Andrea Thomas made an impression on Blake Shelton.

Thomas, who lists herself as a Fort Worth native, performed "Baby, Now That I've Found You" and prompted Shelton to turn his chair one minute into her song. Thomas, who was a former backup singer for country superstar Carrie Underwood, is now an official member of Team Blake.

Burleson High might have the most TV singing competitors per capita. Reagan Clark of Burleson was a contestant in 2014 and also a member of Team Shelton. And, of course, there's Kelly Clarkson, the Burleson native who won American Idol in 2002.

The show didn't do the usual pre-song profile on Thomas, but a combination of her website and her Voice bio provide some details.

She got her start performing in her parents' ministry at age 4, singing for the homeless on the streets of downtown Fort Worth. Her grandfather, Jimmy Jones, was inducted into the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999. When Jones started a TV show on a local Christian network, she sang every week from age 8 to 16, according to her bio on The Voice website.

Thomas, now a Nashville resident, is a session vocalist and lead singer in a cover band.

Blind auditions conclude Tuesday night when Thomas will duet with one of her Team Blake members for a spot in the next round. The Battle Round begins next week.
