Idol has launched dozens of musicians' careers, starting with its very first winner, Dallas-Fort Worth's Kelly Clarkson. It has seen shocking moments, like when Kris Allen won out over Adam Lambert in Season 8. And it's shown millions of people that no-name singers can make it big if given the right stage.

Let's look back through some of the best moments during American Idol's long run:

When Kelly Clarkson sang 'Stuff Like That There'

When Kelly Clarkson proved she could win Season 1, with 'Natural Woman'

When Fantasia gave us goosebumps over 'Summertime'

When the heavens opened over Fantasia's 'I Believe'

When a thrilling Jennifer Hudson offered up 'The Circle of Life'
