American Idol judges on Wednesday night picked Sunnyvale's Dalton Rapattoni and three other contestants to go straight through to the finals.
Rapattoni has consistently wowed the judges, especially superfan Jennifer Lopez, with his reworking of songs. He's no stranger to the spotlight: He was a member of Idol producer Simon Fuller-concocted boy band IM5 and a member of local band Fly Away Hero.
The other three contestants chosen to advance, meaning they're not subject to the whims of the voting public: La'Porsha Renae, Olivia Rox and Trent Harmon. That left 10 singers vying for the last six spots.
Burleson's Kelly Clarkson returns as a singer and as a guest judge for tonight's show that starts at 7 on Fox. (They really should name the stage after her. Or something.) Maybe she's there, too, to pass the torch to another Texan? Just yesterday, TV Line gave 2-1 odds on the 19-year-old singer winning the whole thing.
