'Amazing Race' recap: When in Paris, would you do what #TeamTexas did? Oui

If you're Texan, you start getting #TeamTexas on this season's The Amazing Race

Josh Ahern and Tanner Kloven might be a couple of good guys you'd see Saturday nights in Uptown or Cowtown with good product in their hair.

But after a few episodes, it's like you're living vicariously through these two guys as they battle the challenges and other teams along the way.

In this seventh episode, Josh and Tanner are like we would be in unfamiliar parts of Europe. One of them asks: "Are we still in the Netherlands?"

News Roundups

Catch up on the day's news you need to know.

Or with:

In a previous episode, knowing they were going to France, one of them says out loud: "I'm ordering some French fries."

When they find out they have a little time on their hand in Paris, they do what we'd do. See the sites, maybe find a little Tex-Mex.

It's impossible to take Texas out of Texans.

Personal aside: A long time ago, when MTV was big into contests, two girls high school from the Muskogee, Okla., area won a trip to Paris. MTV did a promo with the two girls standing in front of The Arc De Triomphe. On cue, in their most-distinct Oklahoma accent, they shouted together: "We ain't got nothin' like this in Muskogee, Oklahoma!!"

It's kinda like that with #TeamTexas. You cheer on these locals because they're a lot like us.

Now, on to the spoilers.

Spoilers

The start: Paris, France.

The finish: The Hague, Netherlands.

Episode 4 name: Full Speed Ahead, Captain!

Starting teams (7): #ChacAttack (Cindy and Rick Chac), #TeamAlabama (Denise Williams and James Earl Corley), #TheGreenTeam (Justin Scheman and Diana Bishop), #TheReporters (Kelsey Gerckens and Joey Buttitta), #ThePaparazzi (Logan Fazio and Chris Gordon), #TeamTexas (Josh Ahern and Tanner Kloven), #TheCheerleaders (Tiffany Chantell and Krista Debono).

The Pit Stop: This is the continuation of a two-part episode. When #TeamAlabama finally fights through the French rap, they get face-to-face with host Phil Keoghan. #TeamAlabama believes they've lost and Phil makes them think they're headed home. James Earl and Denise look defeated, but Phil does the old reality-show switcheroo. They're still alive. Psyche!

Road Block: State of the Art: Teams had to visually match up Van Gogh's Sunflower painting with fakes positioned around windmills and take them to a judge wearing a beret. There are slight differences and most had to make multiple tries, except Joey of #TheReporters. Upon completion, team members must compare their heart rates from their Fitbit wrist devices (yep, it was product placement) from a previous obstacle, subtract the difference, carry the 1, and take that many tulips to a tulip lady waiting by a giant wooden shoe. (It'll will make sense when you watch it).

Detour: Ship vs. Skip: Six teams chose Ship, which was a training simulator to navigate a ship and make a rescue in five minutes or less. A real-looking captain stands by to let you know that you've failed. If you're like me, you'll want to approach him, look him in the eye, point to your eyes, then his and say: "Look at me. Look at me. I'm the captain now." The #Cheerleaders chose Skip, which we knew they would. Tiffany and Krista had to jump rope. They had to jump in, clap and jump with precision for 45 seconds. Nailed it.

Who finished first: #TheGreenTeam, Justin and Diana. By finishing first four times, it's hard to deny they're not the favorites. They're beginning to snipe at each other a bit more. With Justin's brash Brooklyn dialect, it's easy to see how he rubs people the wrong way. But Justin did his homework coming in, and he and Diana are good. Fitbit determined how many steps the team took and gave them the cash amount.

Who's out: This time, Phil isn't kidding. #ChacAttack, who had trouble with the Ship detour, also could not recover from getting hung up on public transportation in the Netherlands. On the bright side: It looks like Rick's lip was no longer swollen. A Euro skeeter stung his lower lip and it looked like a botched lip injection.

Next week: It appears they're in Krakow, Poland. The preview shows Justin and Diana working in a mine, the #TheCheerleaders pushing a piano down a street and #ThePaparazzi are arguing ... again.
