Nastia Liukin eliminated from 'Dancing With the Stars'

Homegrown Olympic star Nastia Liukin won't be competing in the Dancing With The Stars finale next week, as the former gymnast and her partner Derek Hough were eliminated Tuesday night in a somewhat surprising result.

That means these three pairs are going to dance for the Mirrorball trophy next week: Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy; Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess; and Riker Lynch and Allison Holker.

Not everyone was pleased with the result. Lauren Piester wrote at E! Online: "We are not happy at all. No. Happy. At. All. Nastia Liukin absolutely deserved to be in the finals. No question about it."

For her part, Liukin told People that she went out with no regrets.

"... Being able to dance with Derek one last time really meant a lot to me. It was such a special moment," she told the magazine. "I was kind of hoping it wasn't that way, but it felt like a send-off moment."

Hough, who was returning to perform with Liukin after two weeks of being out with an injury, also told People that it seemed like the end. "I feel like that when we finished the dance, it felt a little bit like a final dance, a final moment and a beautiful moment. So I think, for us, I'm not terribly surprised, but I'm very pleased. I can't believe what [Nastia's] accomplished."
