Cult movie caravan: Shout! Factory enters the streaming game with new service

I've been a Shout! Factory fan for a while. At a time when DVD and Blu-ray are increasingly used as coasters Shout! keeps up a steady stream of personality, mostly through vintage TV (they've released most of Norman Lear's sitcom output) and cult movies. They're not afraid to throw the curveball. Hell, they live to throw the curveball.

They also know streaming is the future (if not the present), and now they've decided to enter that game. Last week marched the soft launch of Shout! Factory TV, Shout's free new streaming service. You can downloads the app on Roku to watch on your TV, or do the laptop thing (I'm watching the Hill Street Blues pilot as I type this. It still rocks).

In the early going Shout! has featured some but nowhere near all its offerings on its new service, which is pretty heavy on commercials. New attractions will be rotated in every month. It's a work in progress, but a welcome addition to the streaming world.
