Mansion Restaurant

The restaurant at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek is one of the last fabled, formal dining rooms in town, located in a grand residence built in 1925 and with a history of chefs that includes Dean Fearing and Bruno Davaillon. The latest menu, French-American by Sebastien Archambault, is larded with the luxury you’d expect. But dishes can be dull or poorly executed, and service can miss the mark, a painful reality at such high prices. Among the best bets are a charred octopus with fresh beans and a classic beef tartare. The wine list sticks to familiar territory, and many bottles are under $100. When there’s live music, the bar takes on a life of its own. --Michalene Busico/Restaurant Critic
