These "cat tongue" cookies – like handmade, crisp-chewy Pepperidge Farm Milanos – are a special treat that goes out on the dessert plates at the Theodore, Tim Byres' newest restaurant. They're a blast from the past for Byres, who fell in love with them when he worked in Miami in the 1990s, at Pacific Time, under chef-owner Jonathan Eismann. "He showed me some really sophisticated, great things," says Byres, "and one of the desserts that stood out to me was those little cat tongues."

Now you can buy 'em by the dozen ($6) -- along with stellar croissants, pains au chocolat and other baked goodies -- at the Theodore's bakery window. Purrrrr-fectly irresistible.
