Storms could move into the Dallas-Fort Worth area as early at 3 p.m. and last for several hours. The weather service forecasted the scattered storms will likely end in the area by 8 p.m. but continue moving east.

Around 5:30 p.m., the weather service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several North Texas counties, including Dallas and Collin, through 11 p.m. Large hail up to 2 inches and damaging winds of up to 65 mph are the main threats, the office said in a post on X.

The storms will be followed by a cold front late in the day.

Be sure to keep the rain gear out over the weekend as rain chances are high Friday through Sunday.

Scattered to numerous showers and storms are expected throughout the next few days, with the highest chances on Saturday, according to the weather service.

Some areas could receive more than 2 inches of rain Saturday, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported, but noted the bulk of the wet weather should only be that day.

“Severe storms are not expected, but a few strong storms are possible late Friday night into early Saturday,” the forecast says. “Additionally, locally heavy rainfall may lead to flooding issues, particularly Saturday afternoon and evening.”

The sun should reappear by early next week.

High temperatures in Dallas are only predicted to rise into the 60s this weekend before gradually warming into the 70s by Monday.
