TV series about Selena, the Queen of Tejano, is coming to Netflix

Netflix is creating a scripted TV series about the Queen of Tejano, Selena Quinatanilla-Perez, according to an announcement Tuesday.

The streaming service announced the news on social media with a brief video, adding the series "was developed and is executive produced by the Quintanilla family." Interestingly, in 2016, the singer's father, Abraham Quintanilla, sued a production company to stop the making of a TV series about her life.

No word yet on what the series will be called or when it might be released.

Every year on the anniversary of her death, Dallas restaurant Country Burger throws a Selena Day in her honor. The Queen of Tejano also has her own line of MAC makeup, branded cups and tote bags that sell out almost immediately after they're released.

In 2017, Quintanilla-Perez got her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

And if that isn't enough Selena to make you say "bidi bidi bom bom," there are five murals in Dallas-Forth Worth where locals can snap a selfie with the Reina de Tejano.
