Jussie Smollett of 'Empire' will bring concert tour to Dallas on June 3

Jussie Smollett shows his range every week on the Fox hit Empire.

He plays Jamal Lyon, one of a trio of brothers who work for parents/music company moguls Lucious Lyon (Terrence) and his wife Cookie (Taraji P. Henson). Smollet acts, he sings, he dances, he directs, he advocates and now, he's on the road to stretch some more. Smollett's international tour to support his March CD, Sum of My Music, started April 20 in Dubai.

The tour will stop in Dallas on Sunday, June 3, at 8 p.m. at Deep Ellum Art Co. (3200 Commerce St., Dallas). Victory Boyd will open for Heard Presents: Jussie Smollett. Tickets are $15 in advance, and a $5 "minor surcharge, collected at the door." and $65 for a meet and greet.

There are two other dates in Texas: Houston on June 1 and Austin on June 2. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Black AIDS Institute and Flint Kids.

The tour announcement came as Smollett released a video he directed for his song, "Hurt People." Previous videos were released for singles "Catch Your Eye" and "Freedom."

Smollett will cap off his tour with an appearance at Essence Fest in July.

The activism runs in the family. Smollett's sister is actress-activist Jurnee Smollett (True Blood, Underground).
