Luis Alberto Aguilera is following in his father's footsteps.

Aguilera, son of the late Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel, released his song and video "Incertidumbre" on Friday.  It's his first venture into professional music since he debuted the single  "Sprite"  in spring 2017.

A year after Juan Gabriel’s death, son Luis Alberto Aguilera’s music career takes off

The Mexican-born artist from Cuernavaca writes in his biography that his father, known as the "Divo de Juárez," is an inspiration in his musical career. But he also writes he doesn't want to be attached into a specific genre as he experiments with R&B and pop styles.

Aguilera looks a lot like Juan Gabriel did in his younger years, but the sound of Aguilera's music is slightly different. His latest song, which translates to "Uncertainity," is Spanish-language pop, though it's laced with touches of the familiar sounds of the marimba, drum and accordion sometimes heard in his father's music.

By Monday, the video had more than 2 million views, as well as many positive messages on Aguilera's YouTube page, congratulating him on the hit.

The release of the song comes a little more than a week before the one-year anniversary of his father's death. Juan Gabriel, a Mexican icon from Ciudad Juárez with a rags-to-riches story, died of a heart attack on Aug. 28, 2016. The news of the best-selling singer's passing was mourned by his fans in Mexico, Latin America and the United States.

Spanish language news outlet Univision reported that Aguilera is Juan Gabriel's son shortly after the singer's death. Aguilera spent 26 years of his life unknown to the public, but he kept a private relationship with his father. Univision called the revelation "the best kept secret of Juan Gabriel."
