Dallas-based country soul collective the Texas Gentlemen announce new album, release new video

A few months ago, we went on and on about how the groovy country collective Texas Gentlemen is the most exciting country group to come from these parts in quite some time. Stepping out from behind the many great artists they've worked with both locally and nationally, it's now time to let this soulful crew command the spotlight.

Back then, band leader Beau Bedford wasn't quite sure when the group's full-length debut would appear on shelves. But according to a press release from New West Records -- the group's new record label home which also features country queen Nikki Lane and Justin Townes Earle, another soul-minded country artist -- TX Jelly will finally be released Sept. 15.

Recorded over four days at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Bedford says the new record was a collaborative jump into seeing what happens when a bunch of chummy all-stars plug in and follow the groove.

"There was so much mojo once we turned all of the gear on," Bedford says in the press release. "Sounds just started popping out of the speakers, and the songwriters couldn't help but feed off the energy. TX Jelly is the fruition of years of kinship and a deep hunger by our collective group for American roots music."

To celebrate the announcement, the band also released a video for its song "Habbie Doobie," a funky bit of electric boogie-woogie filmed in the group's home studio of Modern Electric Sound Recorders in Dallas. The raucous tune is an ideal introduction to those from around the country not yet aware of the band.
