Another year older, another year wiser. Or in the case of Don Henley, another year rocking.
The Dallasite and co-founder of the Eagles is turning 70 years old in July and he's throwing a party in North Texas to celebrate.
Don Henley's birthday concert takes place July 22 at American Airlines Center in Dallas. In addition to an array of beloved tunes spanning his Eagles and solo years, the event is said to include several special guest performances (to be announced). Tickets cost $49-$180 and go on sale Friday, March 24 at 11 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
Henley was born July 22, 1947 in the town of Linden, near the eastern border of Texas. His latest album, Cass County, is an ode to his roots and possibly the best solo record of his career.
"I was halfway through before I called it Cass County, and why not?" the Hall of Famer told GuideLive in 2015. "That's where a lot of the musical influences came from. And my hometown needs a shot in the arm."
Henley's last concert in D-FW was one for the books, according to GuideLive's then-music critic. Attendees were asked not to use their cellphones during the performance or they may be removed from the audience -- and no one wanted to miss Henley and his 10-piece band jumping all over the musical map.
Loosen your vocal chords for the inevitable "Happy Birthday" tribute to Don Henley in July. If you'd rather tell him in person, Runaway Tours packages are available for $1,595-$2,095 and include tickets to the birthday concert, access to a storytelling/Q&A event with Henley, a photo-op with the singer, and hotel accommodations, among other perks.
