Hear Selena Gomez's groovy new song 'It Ain't Me' with DJ Kygo

After a brief hiatus from the spotlight post-tour last year, pop singer Selena Gomez has gradually been coming back into public view. This week, however, she made a bold return to the speakers with new track, "It Ain't Me," created in collaboration with Norwegian DJ Kygo.

The song, in which Gomez is #overthisrelationship, effortlessly combines Kygo's signature tropical house sound with the singer's silky sweet vocals. It's an unexpected pair, but the two artists mesh well together. "It Ain't Me" a beautifully energetic tune that relishes in layers of organic instrumentation from piano and guitar alongside pulsating electronic beats.

Critics are calling it Gomez's most mature-sounding song to date.

Gomez's return to music comes after Grand Prairie-raised pop star took a break last summer to deal with anxiety, panic attacks and depression stemming from her battle with lupus. She expanded on that during her heartfelt acceptance speech at the American Music Awards, saying "I was absolutely broken inside. And I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.

"I'm not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore," she continued. "And I have to say thank you so much to my fans, because you guys are so damn loyal, and I don't know what I did to deserve you."

Gomez's fans were out in force on social media showing their support for "It Ain't Me."

Some Kygo fans, however, were hesitant to laud such a mainstream pop collaboration.

The top comment on the Coachella alum's Facebook post reads, "what do you do when the track is great, you love kygo but not a big fan of Selena Gomez. Sigh. Lololololol." (It has 57 likes and counting.)

No word yet on if Selena Gomez has more up her sleeve, but we'll be anxiously waiting.
