'Sports Illustrated Swimsuit' 2017 will feature Texan Simone Biles

Just a couple of days after turning heads at the Golden Globes with teammates Aly Raisman and North Texan Madison Kocian, Simone Biles continues her run of jaw-dropping feats.

The announcement on Tuesday, Jan. 10, is that the Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast will be featured in the 2017 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition of the magazine. The magazine also released video of the photo shoot featuring the high-flying Texan and Raisman. Photographer James Macari photographed the duo at the World Champions Centre, the North Houston Skate Park and the Lillie and Hugh Roy Cullen Sculpture Garden in Houston.

Sports Illustrated also announced Tuesday that they will celebrate the launch of the issue this year with a two-day festival in Houston called "Vibes by Sports Illustrated Swimsuit." The festival will be Feb. 17-18 at Post HTX.

Models from the issue, food from award-winning chefs and live music will be the cornerstones of the festival. Grammy Award winners Diplo and Miguel will headline the music portion of the festival. Award-winning Houston chef Chris Shepherd will curate the food portion.

The event will begin Friday with a free meet and greet and segue to the food portion of the festival that evening capped by a performance from Miguel. Local musicians will perform on Saturday, followed by Diplo.

What Sports Illustrated is calling a "first-of-its-kind event" will come just two weeks after Super Bowl LI in Houston. Tickets are $35-$250 and went on sale Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m.
