Longtime Dallas radio home for alternative music 102.1 The Edge (KDGE) is no more, RadioInsight reports. iHeartMedia has shut it down after 27 years.
Currently, the station (which you can also listen to online) is playing "Closing Time" by Semisonic on repeat, along with a message telling listeners "You can hear the sound of 102.1 The Edge at 97.1 the Eagle. Beginning Thursday at 5:00 you can hear the new 102.1." Another message says "Thanks for 27 great years."
A rather unceremonious Facebook post merely says "Listen live on 97.1 The EAGLE: www.kegl.com/listen."
In a comment on that same Facebook post, the official 102.1 account says, "How The Edge Stole Christmas and Edgefest will live on. 97.1 The EAGLE will present the shows now."
It doesn't appear that all of The Edge's pool of talk shows is making the move. The Atom Smasher Show, at least, posted on Facebook that they were "let go this morning." Meanwhile, RadioInsight is reporting that Alan Ayo is moving over to The Eagle.
RadioInsight reports that the station's final songs on 102.1 were "All My Life" by the Foo Fighters and "Out of My League" by Fitz & The Tantrums.
