More than two years after a sold-out farewell show at AT&T Stadium, George Strait is back in Texas to promote a box set of his hits, out Friday exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com.
Strait Out of the Box: Part 2 is a three-disc set with 56 tracks spanning the second half of King George's legendary career, from 1996 to the present. It's a follow-up to his 1995 box-set, Strait Out of the Box, which went Platinum eight times and is second only to Bruce Springsteen's Live/1975-85 in sales for a music box set.
To celebrate the release of the new collection, Strait is performing a private show at a historic Central Texas dance hall with his Ace in the Hole Band.
You might not be able to make the show in person, but fans can watch the event live online at Strait.WranglerNetwork.com. Strait will take the stage at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Strait and the Ace in the Hole Band got their start playing little dance halls in the late 1970s, but the king of Texas Country hasn't been back to those small venues in recent memory. The show will also be Strait's first live performance of two new tracks included on the Strait Out of the Box: Part 2 set — "Kicked Outta Country" and "You Gotta Go Through Hell."
