Leon Bridges is everywhere, including President Obama's summer playlist

Ubiquitous Fort Worth soul singer Leon Bridges  popped up on President Barack Obama's summer playlist. The 27-year-old's "Smooth Sailin'," which Bridges performed on Saturday Night Live back in December, was the track the president chose. The playlist features options for both daytime and nightime grooving, and the beautifully arranged "Smooth Sailin'" fell into the daytime category.

Other places you might have spotted Bridges include the South by Southwest music festival, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, the American Music Awards and countless television appearances. That all came after lots of hard work on Bridges' part, including plenty of busking. (Side note: He also has an epic Instagram account where you can follow his adventures.) It's probably no big surprise, but his Sept. 18 show at Fair Park Music Hall is sold out.

Bridges isn't the first Texan to show up on the POTUS playlist. Last year's choices included Erykah Badu's "Woo" and Beyonce's "Superpower" with Frank Ocean.
