Adele wins big at Billboard Music Awards, notches incredible $130 million deal with Sony

Adele has left awards shows with stacks of trophies, but Sunday's Billboard Music Awards marked a special occasion. Not only did the "Hello" singer win Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Selling Song and Top Radio Song, among others, but she is expected to sign the biggest record deal of any British musician, according to The Sun.

Adele's 90-million-pound deal with Sony Music equates to about $130 million. The Sun says that when she signs it, the deal will double her fortune.

News reports say $130 million offer is the largest contract for a female musician. The highest deal was formerly Whitney Houston's $100 million contract with Arista in 2001, says Billboard.

(The largest record deal in history is far above Adele's $130 million contract, however. Michael Jackson's estate notched a massive $250 million deal with Sony Music in 2010, making it the largest, says Music Times.)

Still, the Adele deal is one for the history books. "We've secured Adele, who's without doubt the biggest music star in a generation. This is massive," an unnamed source from Sony told The Sun.

For those catching up on the winners of the Billboard Music Awards, three major trophies went to gospel singer Kirk Franklin, who calls Dallas-Fort Worth home.
