Leon Bridges made surprise appearance at Nathaniel Rateliff's Dallas concert

Much like Dallas diva Erykah Badu, local soul man Leon Bridges seems to be everywhere. He was recently on tour in Europe, but Wednesday night he showed up at South Side Ballroom for a surprise appearance at Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats concert.

Bridges joined blues man Rateliff for a groovy rendition of Sam Cooke's "Having a Party." If you've at all been follow Bridges this last year, you know he's been compared time and time again to the legendary Cooke, so there's hardly a better fit for the collaboration.

Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats are one of the bands rising to the top of a recent blues, funk and soul revival, a trend we're definitely not mad about. The band hit mainstream with the catchy if heavy single "S.O.B." that inspired Britney Spears to dance in a bikini. Rateliff told GuideLive ahead of the show the band's sound diverges from his original singer-songwriter vibe, and he's not mad about it either.

“It’s the difference between telling a story and throwing a party,” Rateliff said. “I’d always been a fan of soul and R&B music but never figured out a way to write the songs in a way they felt genuine to me.”
