Coldplay announces tour that stops at D-FW's AT&T Stadium

What's the latest act signing up to play the monstrosity known as AT&T Stadium? It's the same one that will take the big stage at halftime during Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7: Coldplay.

Chris Martin and company hope to continue a bit of a comeback journey for their band by announcing seven stadium shows around the U.S. later this year. The AT&T Stadium show will happen on Aug. 27; general tickets go on sale  Feb. 5 at livenation.com. Other cities on Coldplay's stadium map are New York, Chicago, Boston, Philly, LA and San Francisco.

This will be Coldplay's first big outing since the the 2011-2012 touring season when they were promoting Mylo Xyloto. That means they have not one but two later albums of material to cover in the new show -- 2014's low-key Ghost Stories and the recently released, more unapologetically poppy A Head Full of Dreams.
