Jimmy Buffett confirms Memorial Day Weekend concert in Frisco

Hotels are nearly booked in Frisco for Memorial Day Weekend. Why? Those Parrotheads, they plan ahead: Many trop-rock fans booked on a whim, hoping the rumors were true that their surfer dude star, Jimmy Buffett, would bring his Coral Reefer band to the Dallas area for his annual concert and pre-party tailgate on a blessed three-day weekend. They were right.

It's confirmed: Saturday, May 28, Buffett will perform at Frisco's Toyota Stadium.

Texas rock band ZZ Top will open.

The two-day parking lot party in Frisco is just as popular as the concert itself. Parrotheads turn out by the thousands, many churning frozen margaritas and dancing the hula for 36 hours before the main event. The serious "Margaritaville" fans bring RVs and camp out Friday through Sunday.

No word yet on what the tailgating rules will be for this year's Memorial Day Weekend beach party in Frisco, but we'll update this story with details. (See last year's rules for an example of how the paved-paradise parking lot party works.) We do know that the south part of the stadium will be under construction, so expect a few changes to the parking lots this year.
