Video playlist: Before 'Idol' finalists perform in D-FW, watch how the show seasoned them

Although we're nearing the end of American Idol, you can't deny that it spawned an entire generation of music-based competition shows -- The Voice, The X-Factor and others took inspiration from Idol's popularity -- and created some big stars. You may have heard of some of them: Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken ... you get the idea.

Back in May, during the end of season 14, Idol announced that the 15th season would be its last, meaning that when the American Idol Live tour comes to Verizon Theatre on Wednesday, it is likely the second-to-last time Idol will come to town.

Wednesday's show features the top five finishers from season 14, plus our hometown competitor, Trevor Douglas. Before you hit the show, here are their auditions and their absolute best performances.

Jax

Somewhere along the season, Jax, the 18-year-old from New Brunswick, N.J., began drawing a little black X  with a jewel on her temple to represent a kiss, but  instead it ended up looking totally badass and punk. Even young fans would draw the X on their faces as well. Watch her cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and you can tell that she is ready to rock. I mean, the girl performed with Steven Tyler; can a record label pick her up, like, now?

Clark Beckham

Beckham was this season's runner-up, coming second to Nick Fradiani. He wowed judges in Nashville during his audition and continued utilizing his swoon-worthy voice to advance further into the competition. Before Idol, he sang on the streets of Nashville, now he's taking his talents to bigger venues.

Tyanna Jones

One of Idol's younger contestants, Jones, at 16, proved that she had the vocal prowess to make it to the top five despite her age and her struggles with homelessness earlier in her life. She tend to choose high-energy songs  that highlighted her positive nature and personality.

Rayvon Owen

Jennifer Lopez herself claimed that Owen's voice could induce tears. His cover of "Believe" below proves her statement to be correct. Even though he finished in the bottom every week only to be saved by Twitter fans, he still fought hard and worked hard on his way to the top five.

Nick Fradiani

Fradiani was this season's winner, and it's pretty weird to watch his audition, considering that he went with his then-girlfriend, Ariana Gavrilis, who didn't even make it to Hollywood. Since Idol, he has signed a contract with Big Machine Records.

Trevor Douglas

The 17-year-old hailing from Fort Worth attends Booker T. Washington High School and has a penchant for science. While he was eliminated from the top 24, he still continues to make music and tour. He'll be opening for the top five on Wednesday.
