Parquet Courts heading to Denton this fall on heels of a record deal

Parquet Courts front man Andrew Savage has said that fame is completely bogus, but he can't argue that plenty of music lovers will be stoked to hear Tuesday's news.

The Brooklyn-based four-piece recently signed with Rough Trade Records and will release Monastic Living EP on Nov. 13. And just days before, Parquet Courts will be returning to Denton, where it all began. They'll play Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios on Nov. 5 before an appearance at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin.

Savage met band co-founder Austin Brown at the University of North Texas in the early aughts.

"A big part of the person I am today and the music I make is indebted to those years in Denton, between 2004 and 2009," Savage told GuideLive contributor Brenna Rushing. "It was a special time to be there and be in a band."

The new EP follows two releases last year -- Sunbathing Animal (Pitchfork: 8.6) and Content Nausea (Pitchfork: 7.7), the latter of which was released under the Parkay Quartz moniker because half of the band was absent on that record. So far mum's the word on a tracklist and new songs, but we'll keep you updated if we spot any.
