St. Vincent to perform with Dallas Symphony Orchestra at SOLUNA fest in May

Put this down as one of the day's more unexpected announcements:

Annie Clark, otherwise known as St. Vincent, will be performing with members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra May 17 during the first-ever SOLUNA: International Music & Arts Festival. The performance will be an outdoor event in Annette Strauss Square at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, with tickets on sale April 2.

In the announcement, Dallas Symphony Orchestra President and CEO Jonathan Martin says that of course "we are thrilled to welcome St. Vincent to SOLUNA and in performance with DSO musicians. She continues to surprise and excite her fans with each new album, and she represents the future of music and art. It is this genre-bending, boundary-breaking creativity that embodies the spirit of SOLUNA, and we are proud to present her in Dallas in collaboration with the Center."

SOLUNA is the DSO's big-deal event announced last year, which promises "performances by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director Jaap van Zweden and chamber music with DSO musicians and international guest artists." Pieces have been commissioned for the event, but the addition of the Grammy-winning alt-music-maker from Lake Highlands is perhaps its most high-profile announcement thus far. Especially if you like, ya know, St. Vincent.
