When it opens June 18, Alamo Drafthouse in Denton will be the largest one yet

Editor's note: This story has been updated with the June 18 opening date of Alamo Drafthouse in Denton.

When the Alamo Drafthouse opens in Denton this year, it'll seat as many as 881 people. The eight-screen theater will be the company's largest Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas-Fort Worth, Alamo's D-FW President Bryan Penley told the Denton Record-Chronicle.

The estimated opening date for the movie theater at Rayzor Ranch is June 18.

Next, the company will open movie theaters in north Tarrant County and Frisco, Alamo Drafthouse DFW's chief operating officer Bill DiGaetano told me in March 2018.

The Denton theater will focus on a college crowd, Penley told the DRC:

"The college hours (late night screenings) and the appreciation of 35mm film will have more life than our current theaters in the D-FW area," he said. "A lot of programming that happens on this side of the metroplex could now be exclusive to Denton."
