The McKinney Classic Film Festival will return for its second year on Aug. 19-21.
This year's theme is "Screwball Comedies Featuring Cary Grant," with films spanning a period of 1938-1944. The event will open on Aug. 19 at 7:30 p.m. with Frank Capra's Arsenic and Old Lace, which makes me laugh just typing the title.
On Aug. 20, the McKinney Dance Band will perform a free concert before screenings of My Favorite Wife at 4 p.m. and His Girl Friday at 8. There will be a chance to strut the red carpet from 6 to 8 in your favorite period attire, costume or just normal gear in search of photo ops.
The film portion of the festival concludes on Aug. 21 with Holiday at 2 p.m. and the Oscar-winning Philadelphia Story, which also starred Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart, at 4:30.
The closing party will be at 6:30 on Sunday and is open to all ticket holders.
Tickets cost $10 each for general admission. A pass that includes all the films cost $45. Find maps and other notions at the fest's website, mckinneyclassicfilm.com.
The festival will be at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee St., in McKinney.
