Raving with Julianne Moore: Grandma, Difficult People and Jonathan Franzen

OK, so we didn't actually go to a rave with Julianne Moore (thought that sounds fun). But we did ask her what books, TV shows and movies have tickled her of late. Here's what she said. Her new movie, Freeheld, opens Friday.

Books: I'm reading John Lahr's biography of Tennessee Williams, which is interesting. I just finished Dept. of Speculation Jenny Offill's book, which was really good. I almost bought Jonathan Franzen's Purity in the airport, but I was like, I don't want to carry it!

MoviesGrandma is beautiful.  Lily Tomlin gives a really, really exquisite performance, and the movie is lovely. It's like a little poem. It's so spare and realistic and the performances are lovely, and it's incredibly touching. It's one of those movies that really sticks with you. It's pretty great.

TV:  You know what I want to start watching is Difficult People, the Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner show that's on Hulu. I want to kind of clear time to just binge watch it all. I'm very, very excited about it. I'm a big fans of both of theirs, so that's the show.
