Will David Hasselhoff fight sharks in slowmo in ‘Sharknado 3′? We’ll find out

The Hoff is back. And he'll be fighting sharks that fall from the sky. Whether or not Germans will love it, remains to be seen.

David Hasselhoff will portray Gilbert Sheperd, the father of Fin (Ian Ziering), in Sharknado 3, it was announced this morning.

Hasselhoff, 62, is known for roles on Knight Rider(1982-86) and Baywatch (1989-2000). He was a judge on America's Got Talent from 2006-09 and showed his moves in Dancing With the Stars in 2010.

This year, he'll star in a reality comedy Hoff the Record, which will chronicle his move to the United Kingdom. He recently put his Los Angeles home up for sale the past week.

Hoff is the latest edition to Sharknado 3's growing cast, according to Syfy and The Asylum, which produces the Sharknado movies.

Last week, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was cast as U.S. president with Ann Coulter as the vice president. Bo Derek will play April's mother while Jerry Springer will play Mr. White, a manic tourist.

The Los Angeles-based production crew has been on strike most of this month. Its supporters have taken to Twitter to raise awareness using #strikenado.

Pending the strike's resolution, Sharknado 3 is scheduled to premiere on Syfy in July.
