Murray Street Coffee Shop

Murray Street Coffee Shop serves pastries, sandwiches and Eggo waffles. But the city recently revoked exemptions for all places that serve food and required them to install grease traps to help the city's water quality. It cost Murray Street $4,000, too much for a place that caters to the arts community and barely breaks even. Photographed on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.

We serve a variety of "haute" espresso drinks, drip coffees, mate, chais and teas. We also offer italian sodas, soft drinks, juices, sandwiches and breakfast treats. Cozy, unique space has lots of great natural light, remarkable original art, and a mid-century modern-meets-Scandinavia sensibility seasoned with an eclectic soundtrack. There is sidewalk seating on our tree-lined street. And, of course, we provide free Internet access to our customers. - from the shop's website
