You know it’s Christmastime when ... Omni Dallas puts its oversized ornaments on the lawn

Before Santa Claus takes his perch at NorthPark Center, before Neiman Marcus' exquisite window displays go up, you'll know it's Christmastime if you look at another landmark: the Omni Dallas. The light-up hotel's signature Christmas ornaments have taken their place for the holiday season on the sprawling green lawn.

You might know them as the big, red balls at the Omni.

How big? Each of the 13 red ornaments are 10 feet in diameter. They weigh 1,200 pounds apiece.

And placing the lucky 13 decorations in place is no small feat. A 150-foot crane hoisted each bulb into place on Nov. 15.

It's the sixth Christmas season that the Omni has displayed the Instagram-worthy ornaments.
