'Harry Potter' fan convention LeakyCon brought stars, fun and crowds to a magical Dallas event

Sure, the popular Harry Potter fan convention LeakyCon (named after the Leaky Cauldron pub found in the series) has been held all over the world in exciting locations like Boston, London and Dublin. But everything is bigger in Texas.

As such, 2018's event, held in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Aug. 10-12, was the biggest LeakyCon yet. The sold out show was packed with panels, celebrities, a bustling marketplace and more cosplay than you can wave a wand at -- all brought together with a love for J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World.

Panels included a wide range of topics including "How the Harry Potter novels have been used in sermons" and "Queerness in Harry Potter." There were sessions on geeky parenting, writing and crafts. Ballroom A was consistently packed with people who wanted to hear from celebrities such as Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol (stars of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), but on Saturday night the ballroom hosted an actual ball.
