We check out Fan Expo 2017 with cosplay artist Asta Young of 'Little Women: Dallas'

It's a bird, it's a plane ... it's no one dressed as Superman.

Poor Big Blue. It seems antiheroes are in this year, with Deadpool mashups, Darth anything and a few subversive Belles of Beauty and the Beast thrown into the mix.

We walked the floor with cosplay artist Asta Young, of Little Women: Dallas. (The show returns to finish up its first season on April 12.) She was dressed as a Gremlin. We went live on Facebook, talked comics, superhero genre and anything else with anyone else we found willing to chat it up.

This year's convention started Friday, March 31, and continues through April 2. Highlights include a Rocky Horror Picture Show reunion, reportedly comics creator Stan Lee's last Texas appearance and a 20th anniversary panel on Buffy the Vampire Slayer alums. Oh, and then there's the Salvatore brothers (Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder) from the dearly and recently departed Vampire Diaries.

Seriously, there's an entire area devoted to Lee, and what I like to call Buffy row, with Charisma Carpenter (also Charmed) seated next to James Marsters (also Smallville) with Eliza Dushku (also Dollhouse) somewhere in the house. The rest of the row includes Jason David Frank (Power Rangers, original flavor Green and morphed into White) and Robin Lord Taylor (Gotham).

Fan Expo 2017 is back, taking over Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas. So, when you see a full-on Ninja Turtle walking by, just wave and take it for love. The fans are in town.
