Guide Geek: 'Star Wars' poster artist says 'The Force Awakens' is the best in the series yet

He came here to end lawsuits and chew bubblegum, and he's all out of gum. The latest in the long and complicated history of lawsuits over the Duke Nukem series has come to and end, and the result is Plano-based Gearbox Software saying definitively, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they own the rights to the classic video game character.

Last year 3D Realms, the formerly Garland-based original home of Duke Nukem,  announced that they were making a new Duke game called Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction. The problem is that Gearbox had previously bought the Duke Nukem rights from 3D Realms when the latter company was about to go under, so, naturally, they weren't too happy to hear that someone else was trying to profit off of what was now their property.

2DS price drop

If you've been holding off on buying a system in Nintendo's 3DS family of portable gaming consoles, then you're missing out on a lot of really awesome games. Catching up is about to get cheaper, though. Starting August 30, the Nintendo 2DS is dropping to a mere $99.

What's a 2DS? It's just a 3DS without the 3D capabilities. Sure, you could say the system is marketed a bit more to younger gamers, but it plays all the same awesome games as its 3D brother and is surprisingly comfortable to hold. Besides, it's hard to beat that price.

If you're like most of the geeky fandom out there, you're really anxious to see how Star Wars: The Force Awakens turns out. I mean, even if you're not a fan of the series, you've got to be wondering how people will react to Disney's first Star Wars film, right?

Well, according to poster artist Drew Struzan, you don't want to miss it. He's drawn the wonderful poster art for every film in the sci-fi series so far, including a special edition poster for The Force Awakens that was available at Disney's D23 expo last weekend.

He told the website Movie Weekly, "I got to read the script and subsequently I've seen half of it, and I can tell you and the fans this, honest to God, it is far and away probably going to be the best Star Wars you've ever seen." Of course, he's a little biased, but that's still high praise from somebody who's had a hand in the franchise since the beginning.
