You can play Pac-Man in Google Maps (and chomp ghosts in Dallas) right now

Google Maps has a new feature, but it's not "handy" so much as it's just awesome. By clicking on a button at the bottom left-hand corner of Google Maps, you can initiate a game of the arcade classic Pac-Man that turns streets into the game's mazes.

Well, there goes any productivity I had going for me today.

You can play wherever you want. I've personally been playing a maze (seen in the image above) set in the streets around The Dallas Morning News building.

It doesn't play as smoothly as the classic in part because streets aren't always as grid-like as the traditional mazes Pac-Man aficionados are familiar with. The weird little turns and small corners can be kind of tricky to navigate with a keyboard. Also, like the original game, going off one of the sides of the screen will make you loop around to the opposite side, which can be a bit more disorienting when your map isn't symmetrical.

Still, it's a fun twist on Pac-Man, and it's a great diversion for your lunch break.
