The event, appropriately named the Fort Worth Taco Fest, will bring 20 local restaurants and vendors to Panther Island Pavilion on May 7 to feed the hungry Texan masses what should be known as the state's official cuisine. (This is the land of the taco cleanse after all.) Vendors will also compete for the honors of best taco -- in categories like "best traditional taco," best presentation," "best tortilla," and "best in show" -- which will be determined by a panel of celebrity judges.

The Fort Worth Taco Fest will also feature live music, headlined by band Latin Express, theatrical performances, mariachi and, of course, beer and margaritas to wash it all down. We know what you're thinking...

"How do I get in?"

Tickets to Fort Worth Taco Fest are currently on sale for $25 for early bird general admission and $50 for VIP, both of which buy access to free and unlimited taco samples. VIP ticket holders get access to the festival one hour early and to a VIP lounge with a private bar. Children ages 6 to 13 cost $10 a head, while kids younger get in free.

The fine print: Fort Worth Taco Fest is capping attendance at 3,800, which means it will likely sell out. We'll keep you updated as more details become available.
