Uptown Dallas is getting a Mexican restaurant called Hugo’s Invitados and a mysterious, new shop

A Mexican restaurant that originated in Las Colinas is opening in the McKinney & Olive building in Uptown Dallas.

Hugo's Invitados describes itself as a "wholesome" Mexican restaurant with vegan options, and where every item is made with organic and gluten-free ingredients. Its lengthy menu includes pork belly chicharróns; build-your-own bowls with proteins like chicken al pastor, shrimp, salmon or Impossible meat; brisket tacos; chicken tomatillo enchiladas and more.

Hugo's is named for Hugo Miranda, who operated Meso Maya restaurants in North Texas before moving to this company.

It's one of the final restaurants at McKinney & Olive, a high-rise in Uptown anchored by a Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House. Other restaurants in the building include Malibu Poke, salad shop Mixt, and a rare Starbucks Reserve Bar.

The other remaining restaurant is a mysterious 5,000 square-foot shop that spokespeople for Crescent Real Estate LLC and J.P. Morgan Asset Management can't talk about. But the addition of Hugo's and this unnamed restaurant mean that McKinney & Olive's retail spaces are at 100% occupancy.

Both restaurants will be located near the corner of the building, near Cedar Springs Road and facing Olive Street.

The un-released restaurant is expected to open in early 2020. Hugo's is slated for March 2020.

McKinney & Olive is at 2021 McKinney Ave., Dallas.

Correction at 1:45 p.m. Aug. 21, 2019: A previous version of this story said that the unnamed restaurant opening at McKinney & Olive will be a taco shop operated by the team behind Hugo’s Invitados. That restaurant is unaffiliated with Hugo’s and occupies a separate space. While Hugo’s will have a taco shop, it will be attached to the restaurant.
