Gotta drink 'em all: The Pokemon-themed pop-up bar in Dallas now has a date

Updated on Aug. 6, 2019 with an exact date.

More than 20 years after pocket monsters first took over the world, Pokemon is still hotter than the flame on Charizard's tail. Pokemon Go exploded in popularity, that Detective Pikachu movie with Ryan Reynolds was better than it had any right to be, and brand new entries in the video game series are scheduled to hit the Nintendo Switch later this year.

What's left to do? How about an unofficial Pokemon pop-up bar?

The PokeBar - not to be confused with a restaurant that serves the Hawaiian dish poke - a Pokemon-themed pop-up event, is touring North America and Europe, and it's stopping in Dallas on January 25, 2020. A ticket will get you a Pokemon-themed burger and beverage, but it's more than just an Instagrammable bar and restaurant. The organizers say there will be "trivia, card battles, action stations, giant interactive games, all to win points and evolve your Pokemon," as well as prizes throughout. When you buy your ticket, you're booking a two-hour timeslot, so they want to keep you busy during that time.

There are a couple of catches that you can't use a Pokeball for, though. First is that tickets will run you $45 per person, and while that does include food and a drink, it's also not cheap if you want to go with a group.

That group may not include the youngest members of your family, though. Anyone under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an adult.

The folks at PokeBar haven't told us the exact location or dates for the Dallas stop yet (though they say that their events are generally held "within the city core," so a suburb location is unlikely) but you can sign up for updates on their website.
