The Pappas family, the Texas restaurateurs responsible for Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse and more, is opening a Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse in Plano.
Expected opening date is mid September.
Delta Blues is a full-service barbecue and Southern restaurant serving brisket, ribs, burgers and steaks. Its website notes that this isn't the kind of place where customers "wait in line and eat off of a plastic tray." Like its upscale Mexican restaurant Pappasito's, Delta Blues appears to be a dressed-up version of a well-known cuisine.
The first Delta Blues restaurant is in Webster, Texas, southeast of Houston. The Plano restaurant makes two. Delta Blues is separate from Pappas Bar-B-Q, another Pappas family restaurant with more than a dozen locations in the Houston area and one in Dallas.
Plano's Delta Blues is located on the Dallas North Tollway, in place of a former Bone Daddy's House of Smoke.
Eager Plano residents have been eyeing the construction site since early 2019. Delta Blues Smokehouse is now hiring.
"We're really excited to open this concept in the Dallas area, and we're especially excited to be in Plano," said Christina Pappas, director of marketing, in March 2019.
The restaurant also has a full bar with American whiskey, beer on tap and wine. Some of the items on the cocktail menu include a frozen whiskey drink and a strawberry habanero mule.
Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse is located at 3916 N. Dallas Parkway (near W. Parker Road), Plano. Here's a look at some of the menu items from the original Delta Blues near Houston:
