Shake Shack to open 2 new D-FW burger joints, 2 days before Christmas

Two days before Christmas, two Shake Shacks are opening in Dallas-Fort Worth, in Irving and Southlake.

The New York City burger joint arrived in D-FW in 2016, with its first local shop in Uptown Dallas. The fervor for its cheeseburgers, shakes and crinkle-cut fries hasn't waned.

Shake Shack now operates three restaurants in the Dallas area, in Uptown, Preston/Royal and West Plano. Irving and Southlake make five, with a sixth Shake Shack opening at DFW International Airport, Terminal C, sometime "this holiday season," says a Shake Shack spokesperson.

Both new Shake Shacks open at 11 a.m. Dec. 23. They will sell special custards or shakes made with pie or other ingredients from local shops Emporium Pies and Sugar Ray's Bakeshop. And, they will sell the Lockhart Link Burger, a special-to-Texas cheeseburger topped with a jalapeno-cheese sausage link from barbecue joint Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum. The Lockhart Link Burger is also sold at other local Shake Shacks.

To make this NYC burger stand even more local, the two new shops will sell beer from Community Beer Co., Deep Ellum Brewing Company and Four Corners Brewing Co.

On opening day, 25 percent of proceeds will go to Kidd's Kids, a Dallas charity started by the late KISS FM DJ Kidd Kraddick.

The first 100 people in line on Dec. 23 in Southlake and Irving will get a Shake Shack ornament. And you should expect a line.
