Snuffer's burger joint in Southlake has closed

Since 2006, Snuffer's Restaurant and Bar has been a destination for shoppers and moviegoers in Southlake's Town Square. But no longer — the eatery closed on Dec. 9, reports Southlake Style.

"After 12 years, we have made the difficult decision to close our Snuffer's location in Southlake," said Mike Karns, founder and CEO of Firebird Restaurant Group, in a statement. "This move, while painful, was necessary to the continued success of our higher-performing locations."

Snuffer's no doubt faced competition from the numerous other restaurants in the square, including burger joints like Five Guys and the recently opened Hopdoddy. A Shake Shack is slated to open Dec. 23.

And it's not the only location to close this year. Firebird shuttered the Snuffer's in Dallas' Preston Center in November, and the Star-Telegram reports one in Arlington closed over the summer.

Hungry North Texans can still find burgers and massive cheese fries at 10 remaining Snuffer's restaurants in Addison, Colleyville, Dallas, Greenville, Highland Village, Mesquite, Plano, Red Oak, Richardson, and Rockwall.
