When in doubt, go with a Texas-themed Christmas present.

Whether your friends and family grew up here or got here as fast as they could, Texans love to love Texas. And we have seven great gift ideas for the Texas lover in your life. Bonus: You still have time to buy these before Dec. 25.

There's nothing wrong with an IOU Christmas present. Consider this one a political statement: Willie's likely hosting a July 4 picnic this summer, and you and Cousin Eddie will be there. Bonus points if you went to this annual show previously and can wrap up an old ticket stub. Or, head to Good Records or another local music store, buy a Willie Nelson CD or vinyl, and include a note about the tickets.

Depending on what your family's like, gifting this Texas dish towel could go one of two ways: One, Aunt Priscilla (who's so hard to shop for) loves this dish towel and proudly hangs it in her kitchen right after opening it. Two, Grandpa Joe realizes that they put Houston where Beaumont should be, and they put the State Fair of Texas on top of Abilene. A loving, if impassioned, family fight ensues because everybody's had too much wassail. And scene. Prime members can buy on Amazon Dec. 18 and get guaranteed delivery Dec. 20.

A trip to Nashville to see the Outlaws & Armadillos exhibit

OK, moneybags. Give your favorite Texan a trip to Tennessee to see the Outlaws & Armadillos exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame. It's way more Texas than Tennessee, actually. And it's a chance to visit Music City and point out all the Texas talent. Buy tickets online, then wrap up printed tickets with a fun accessory like a stuffed armadillo.

A Texas State Parks pass

Your outdoorsy friend or family member will appreciate unlimited, free entry to Texas State Parks next year with the gift of a parks pass. They cost $70 per person, with a second ringing up at just $25 for a person who lives at the same address. Runners, hikers, bikers and explorers: This will save all of them, big-time, if they visit state parks regularly. Order by phone. Passes are shipped by mail, but you don't have to have the pass in hand to give the gift.

A case of Shiner Bock beer

When in doubt, go with what you know. The responsible drinkers in your family surely would love a case of Texas' most famous beer. If your gift-getter is the traveling type, perhaps tack on an aspirational trip to the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas, where company reps recently started offering tours.  Buy Shiner at nearly any liquor store or grocery store in Dallas-Fort Worth. Find info on Spoetzl Brewery tours here.
