There's a new brewpub slated to open in Farmers Branch and it comes from two local businesses whose names local beer drinkers will recognize.
Cedar Creek Brewery out of Seven Points, Texas is teaming up with the founders of Luck restaurant in Dallas to create a new concept called Cedar Creek Brewhouse and Eatery. The company broke ground on Tuesday and expects to open in late 2019.
The Dallas Morning News' Jeff Mosier broke the news about the partnership when he reported 3 Nations Brewing might be moving from Farmers Branch to Carrollton.
Jim Elliott, founder of Cedar Creek Brewery, said the city of Farmers Branch approached him to be part of the new Mustang Station development and offered incentives to do so. It's a win for Cedar Creek, he says, because he'll be able to build a flagship location that sets the tone for other Cedar Creek Brewhouse restaurants to come.
"The first one has to be a home run," Elliott says. "It needed to be an A-plus location."
Plans for the two-story brewpub include having an onsite brewery, a full bar and 30 draft taps -- 15 for Cedar Creek beers, such as the beloved Dankosaurus IPA, and 15 guest taps, says Elliott.
Cedar Creek Brewery opened in Seven Points in 2012 and built a proprietary restaurant there in 2015. The menu in Farmers Branch, however, will more closely resemble the food prepared at Luck, says Elliott, though it won't be identical. Diners can expect a menu of "hearty sandwiches, salads, and entrees," said Jeff Dietzman, co-founder of Luck, in a statement.
Dietzman is a partner in Chef-Engineered, the restaurant group that opened Luck and is collaborating on the Cedar Creek Brewhouse and Eatery. Luck just celebrated its fifth anniversary.
