Pazzo, a restaurant and nightclub in Uptown Dallas, is closed

According to a sign on the doors, Uptown Dallas restaurant Pazzo has closed. The note from landlord Villa Rosa LLC says Pazzo's owners owe "one or more" installments of rent and that the locks have been changed.

The voicemail for the restaurant is full, and separate phone calls to involved parties were not returned.

Pazzo was an Italian-American restaurant that transitioned into a late-night club after dark. It opened in January 2018 in the first floor of the Gables Villa Rosa apartment building, which has seen a revolving door of restaurant tenants over the years.

The original idea for Pazzo was to be "extravagant," I reported in a story about Dallas' most exciting new restaurants opening in 2018. It had a big dining room with white tablecloths, and a patio for Dallasites' quintessential weekend meal, brunch. Pazzo Lounge Nights show DJ parties, where a female server in a bikini delivers bottle service. It has also been a place for birthday parties and baby showers.

A peek inside the restaurant on Friday morning shows the candles still in the center of the tables, doors locked.
