Mexican restaurant Mesero is opening in 2 new Dallas neighborhoods 

Mesero is making moves in Dallas.

The Mexican restaurant group is making three notable changes: Mesero closed its restaurant on Henderson Avenue recently; and it expects to open two new Meseros, first in Victory Park in September 2018 and then at Walnut Hill and Central Expressway in 2019.

The restaurant on Henderson Avenue closed in August after being in operation for five years. A note on the door says the closure was due to "ongoing efforts to achieve a reasonable lease." Trey Dyer, the president and CEO of Mesero Restaurant Group, says in a phone interview, "we just were not able to make it work."

Mesero sells Mexican food in upscale areas of Dallas, Plano and Fort Worth. It was founded by Mico Rodriguez, the restaurateur whose "storied and turbulent career" in Dallas restaurants included creating Mi Cocina and Taco Diner. The Victory Park Mesero, part of a massive redo to reinvigorate that neighborhood, is expected to open this month. It will be located across the street from a modern Texas saloon called Billy Can Can and next-door to luxury movie theater Cinepolis.

The Mesero expected to open on Walnut Hill Lane in 2019 joins Preston Hollow Village, home to a Trader Joe's and more than a half-dozen other restaurants.

"We're thrilled to call Preston Hollow Village our newest home," Dyer says in a statement. Following Mesero's track record of opening in high-end shopping centers near high-dollar homes, this Mesero will be right near the tony Preston Hollow area.

Dyer and his team are currently considering locations for Mr. Mesero, a smaller-sized Mesero. They are also evaluating addresses outside of Texas, he says, to grow the Mesero company.
