New ramen shop R&B is officially open on the ground floor of The Statler Hotel

R&B has opened at The Statler.

Its name may evoke images of Motown and perhaps even Usher, but it stands for ramen and bao. Those are the two staples of the small but mighty menu at the new spot on the bottom floor of The Statler Hotel.

The new fast-casual restaurant at 1914 Commerce St. was full the day of a soft opening last week when they were giving out free food.

Executive Chef Angela Hernandez and Chef de Cuisine Josh Bonee focused the menu on the two items.

The restaurant offers hefty portions of ramen offered in four bowls: Chicken Tskune; Bacon, Egg and Cheese; Tantanmen; and Chilled Tomato Mazemen. There are seven options when it comes to the bao, steamed buns with meat and-or vegetable filling, including the playfully named Cheesebao-ger and the Edamame Falafel.

Epic Food & Beverage owns the restaurant. The company also owns Fine China, which is next door.
